Kevin Swan is a native Floridaian. Yes, there is such a thing. He graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in broadcast journalism. Swan landed in NYC weeks after graduation with no job or apartment. After a brief search he started working on Madison Avenue.
Obsessed with the creative world, Swan then started his own, what the NY Times called a “fledgling” production company. He worked as a TV Host while waiting tables to pay the bills. The grit and the energy of the city are what he misses most from his seven years in the city.
Swan moved to Chicago in 2011 and became the Director of Communications for a tech startup. Unfortunately, shortly after the move he was diagnosed with ALS. It only took him six weeks to create A Life Story Foundation.
The nonprofit organization has been a family operation from the beginning is based out of Bradenton, FL. The organization has raised nearly two million dollars for ALS awareness and research.
Life got even more exciting in 2017 when Swan met his wife, Shaina, on a blind date. The couple are complete opposites but somehow always seem to meet in the middle. They welcomed their daughter, Elliott Monroe into the world in February 2018. As if being an interabled couple wasn’t enough uniqueness, the family converted to Judaism in 2019.
The family now lives in St. Petersburg, FL where they are active members of the community. Swan writes about what he knows – mental strength, relationships, parenting, marketing and being an entrepreneur. Oh, he writes with his eyes thanks to a Microsoft Surface Pro and Tobii eye gaze technology.
